Shehroze Khan

Hi, I'm Shehroze.

I am a Machine Learning Engineer at Cerebras Systems, a company devoted to accelerating compute for deep learning by building the world's most powerful wafer-scale chip. Previously, I was a Master's student (MSc, Thesis) at the University of Alberta and part of graduate research at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii). My supervisor was James R. Wright.

Priot to that, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (BSc, honors) from New York University Abu Dhabi in May 2018 on a full academic scholarship. I have also studied abroad at NYU London (2015), NYU Florence (2016), and NYU New York (2016-17). My undergraduate capstone supervisor was Nizar Habash.

Research My research area is artificial intelligence, specifically the subdomains of machine learning, algorithmic game theory and mechanism design. I primarily investigate the use of machine learning models to simulate and predict human behavior in strategic settings. In my MSc thesis, I applied these modeling techniques to the problem of disinformation control on social platforms.

Professional Experience Additionally, I have also worked in the industry as a software engineer and also as a technology consultant; my various projects have involved front-end web development (Vue, React), backend development (Node, Flask), mobile development (Swift, React Native), and data science (NumPy, Scikit-learn). My work, teaching, and internship experiences have been based in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Edmonton, and New York.
